Important Changes to 2019 NAYC Qualifications!

The North American Youth Championships 2019 (formerly NAJYRC) will be held at Rebecca Farms, Kalispell, MT July 24-28, 2019.  There has been some changes made to the competition, as far as eligibility is concerned.  As neither Canada or Mexico have been able to field a team, the last few years, the competition is no longer an FEI Championship.  It is more like a Nations Cup.  Riders still need to meet National Eligibility Requirements and must be nominated via their Province.
The Junior competition will be a CCI2L (Old CCI 1*).  So, we would expect a horse/rider combination be considered competent/safe to compete at this level.
There were not any changes made to the CICOY3S division (Old CIC 2*).
The Canadian Minimum Eligibility Requirements for a Junior rider, for 2019 are:
As a combination, there is a minimum of three MER results required at the CCI2S/CNC (Preliminary) horse trials including one MER within 3 months of the competition.
Any junior rider* who is interested in being considered to represent Alberta at the 2019 Championships and has not already been in contact with Kathleen needs to do so, immediately.  The email address is ahtahighperformance@gmail.com.
The change is exciting and Alberta could have a full Junior team heading to Rebecca Farms, as long as the stars align for the riders working on getting their Prelim scores.
* a junior rider birthdate must fall between Jan 1/2001 and December 31/2005.  The horse must be at least 6 years old.
