Teams to consist of 3 or 4 riders. Each event is considered a separate competition, so you do not need to have the same team for the year. Only 2 riders on a team can be in the same division. Riders who have more than one horse competing can be on same team as long as you still have the mixed divisions.

Only the top 3 scores (lowest penalties) will count โ€“ highest penalty score will be dropped. Forms must be submitted before the start of dressage. This is offered by the AHTA and Extreme Tack, if you have questions, please find the AHTA Rider Rep at the event.

Ribbons and prizes will be awarded at the AHTA Year End Banquet. For more information and forms, visit https://albertahorsetrials.com/index.php/extreme-tack-team-competition/

New EV105 Initiative

The Alberta Horse Trials Association is excited to announce a new initiative to support the development of the EV105 level of competition in Alberta!

EV105 was introduced by Equestrian Canada in 2018 to help bridge the gap and facilitate a safer transition between the Training and Preliminary levels of competition. To date, Alberta has not successfully initiated the level, and our riders need to travel south to gain this valuable competition experience. Albertaโ€™s current 2022 competition plans will see only one competition offer EV105 (Cochrane Horse Trials), which makes it difficult for riders to build it into their plan. The AHTA would like to see at least 3 or 4 competitions offer EV105 every year (or better yet โ€“ for all Alberta competitions to offer the level), in order to ensure that coaches, trainers, and riders can properly develop this level into their programs.

We do however recognize that there is a large cost associated with building an entire new level of competition (~$10,000 – $30,000 per site) and so we have launched this new initiative to assist our event sites with that burden. The AHTA has awarded each event site a special grant of $5,000 to be used to build EV105 level cross country jumps. This grant is in addition to our regular annual event site funding which goes towards all levels of competition and course improvements.

The AHTA is proud to say that we have been able to offer our Event Sites and Organizing Committeeโ€™s a total of $70,000 of funding in 2022!!! Safety and growing the sport of eventing remain top priorities and are considered in all of our funding and grant initiatives.

Please keep your eyes out for upcoming fundraising activities to continue to support the development of the EV105 level of competition in Alberta and other initiatives. These Phase 1 grants are just the start and wonโ€™t get us all the way to our goal.

Important! Changes in 2022 to Sport License and Coaches!

With sport licence renewals opening on November 15, 2021, EC wants everyone to understand the important updates that advance Safe Sport principles and ensure you are ready for the 2022 season!
Safe Sport Training
New for sport licencing in 2022, all competitive athletes, owners, and officials are required to complete two EC Safe Sport training sessions, EC Concussion Awareness and Fostering Healthy Environments found in the ECampus link within your MyEC account. The training courses are provided FREE of charge to all sport license holders but must be completed no later than March 31, 2022 to remain a member in good standing. Coaches have safe sport training as part of their status program certification. Find your ECampus link once you login at https://licence.equestrian.ca/myec/login?lang=en
Coach Status
Holding an EC Coach Status will be required for all coaches at EC sanctioned competitions in 2022. The Coach Status Program remains one of our top priorities to ensure the safety of our sport. The program elevates the standards for equestrian coaching and offers two statuses โ€“ registered and licensed. Holding one of these statuses means EC has screened the coach and verified that training and insurance are current. If you havenโ€™t already, we encourage all coaches to apply for or upgrade their status today! https://www.equestrian.ca/…/coaches/coach-status-program

The friends and family of Kat came together as members of Katharine Morel & Kerry On Eventing Safety Fund, spending countless hours to make Frangible Pins an affordable safety solution. We are grateful for all the donations we have received so far to make this day possible.
Apply now for funding towards your Frangible Device Jumps at Frangible Device Jump Application so we can continue to Kerry On for Kat.
